| Frac sand mining is a new topic for the Coulee Region and the Nation. This presentation gives a geologic overview of where frac sands are found in the Coulee Region, as well as the practical issues that may be faced by local government officials when a sand mine (quary) is proposed. Hello – I got your name from Mike Hesse our Town Chairman as a contact for more information or map on silica sand sites in La Crosse county as potential sites for sand mining/fracing sand. I am not necessarily in favor of this practise but want to be more informed and aware of those potential sand sites.
If you could give me more info or where I can obtain this info I’d appreciate it.
I was chairman of our Plan Commission for 2.5 years as we put our plan together and at that time it was not an issue. There are many concerned citizens who are now seeking more specific information/map on where sites may be sought for mining before they are bought and then the process is already in the works and harder to avert.
Thank you.
