La Crosse County Agricultural Chemical Clean Sweep at La Crosse County Household Hazardous Materials Facility Year Round

barn-1517184_1280_optThrough the Wisconsin DATCP Clean Sweep Program the La Crosse County Household Hazardous Materials Facility is able to accept up to 200 lbs. of qualifying farm/agricultural chemicals from La Crosse County Farmers at no charge.  Amounts over 200 lbs. can also be accepted but will be charged at our regular VSQG Business Rates.  Acceptable farm chemicals include:

  • Herbicides
  • Insecticides
  • Fungicides
  • Pipeline and bulk tank cleaners

Farms must pre-register and schedule a drop off time by calling 608-785-9999.  Our Facility is open year round so you can schedule the disposal of unwanted farm chemicals during a time of year that works best for you.  For more information call 608-785-9999.

All households in La Crosse County can also dispose of normal household quantities of unwanted paints, stains, cleaners, used oil, antifreeze and lawn and garden chemicals at the La Crosse County Household Hazardous Materials Facility at no charge. Computers, computer accessories, monitors, dvd players, vcrs, gaming systems, radios and cell phones can also be dropped off at no charge.  Televisions and small freon appliances (dorm fridges, dehumidifiers and window air conditioning units) are accepted for a fee.   Household users can drop off 250 lbs or less of materials during Household User drop off hours which are: Tuesday 8am to 4pm, Wednesday 10 am to 6pm and Thursday from Noon to 4pm.  Large household loads over 250 lbs should call to schedule an appointment for materials drop off. Check out our Reuse Room, located in the entrance to the Landfill Scale Office Building.  The Reuse Room is stocked with usable materials such as paints, stains and cleaning products from the Household Hazardous Materials Facility.  The items are re-stocked frequently and are free to take, however you must be over 18 years old to use the Reuse Room.  The Reuse Room is open from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday.
