2018 Dog Training Classes

Dog obedience, agility, showmanship, and critter hunt classes are open to all 4-H members in grades 3 and up. There will be an orientation class on Thursday, March 22nd at 6:00 p.m. at the West Salem Library Community Room (201 Neshonoc Rd, West Salem). All dog project members who will be showing at the Fair are required to attend this meeting with a parent. DO NOT bring your dog to this meeting!

Obedience

  • Classes will meet every Thursday for 12 weeks beginning April 19th at the Farm Progress Building on the La Crosse Interstate Fairgrounds (N4985 Cty Rd M, West Salem).
  • Beginner class will start at 6:00 p.m. (1st & 2nd year students in Pre-novice A & B)
  • Advanced class will start at 7:15 p.m. (3rd year & up students in Novice & Grad Novice)
  • For safety reasons, 1st & 2nd year students must have a parent/adult attend each class to assist their youth.
  • Registration fee is $15 per student.

Agility

  • Classes will meet every Tuesday for 12 weeks beginning April 17th at the Farm Progress Building on the La Crosse Interstate Fairgrounds (N4985 Cty Rd M, West Salem).
  • Beginner class will start at 7:00 p.m. (1st year students)
  • Advanced class will start at 6:00 p.m. (2nd year & up students)
  • For safety reasons, all students must have a parent/adult attend each class to help set up and tear down the course. All students must also have 1 year of completed obedience training to join the class.
  • Registration fee is $15 per student.

Showmanship

  • Classes will meet every Thursday for 8 weeks beginning May 17th at the Farm Progress Building on the La Crosse Interstate Fairgrounds (N4985 Cty Rd M, West Salem).
  • Beginner class will start at 7:00 p.m.
  • Advanced class will start at 6:45 p.m.
  • Registration fee is $10 per student.

Critter Hunt

  • Classes will meet every Monday for 12 weeks beginning April 16th at the north end of the Dairy Barn on the La Crosse Interstate Fairgrounds (N4985 Cty Rd M, West Salem).
  • Beginner class will start at 7:00 p.m.
  • Advanced class will start at 6:00 p.m.
  • This class is open to the adults/public for $6 per 2 ring sessions (pay at the door).
  • Registration fee is $10 per student.

2018 Dog Class Registration Sheet

Return the registration form (above), shot records, and fees to the UW-Extension office (212 6th St. N Suite 2200, La Crosse) by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 29th. Please make checks payable to: La Crosse County 4-H Dog Project. After March 29th, there will be a $20 per youth late fee. No one may register after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10th. Please note: This does not enroll you in the Dog Project; you still need to enroll in the Dog Project in 4HOnline by March 1st to show at the La Crosse Interstate Fair.

2018 State 4-H Dog Agility, Obedience & Showmanship Shows
