La Crosse County 4-H Shooting Sports Program

Instructor Certification Workshop

When: Friday, September 7th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 8th from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Where: Central Wisconsin Sportsmen’s Club, 11841 Stadt Rd., Marshfield, WI 54449
Cost: $70 if this is your 1st certification; $55 for those attending an additional certification; $25 for a spouse to join in the same discipline and certification

If you are a 4-H volunteer that is interested in teaching our youth about safe and effective shooting, then this workshop is for you! This workshop will offer the following disciplines: archery, coordinator, rifle/air rifle, muzzleloader, pistol/air pistol and shotgun. Registration is due by Friday, August 24th. Arrows in the Square Archery Program

Where: Arrows in the Square (N7681 Casberg Coulee Rd., Holmen, WI 54636)
Cost: $5 4-H members, $8 Community members

It’s not too late to get your 2 archery sessions in to be able to participate in the Archery Competition at the 2018 La Crosse Interstate Fair! Arrows in the Square is offering 2 sessions to gauge interest for an additional program to be held next year. Sessions will be held at youth’s registered time of 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., or 10:00 a.m. depending on their grade level.

Safety will be emphasized; thus, all youth will participate in a safety session at the start of the first session. Do you have a friend interested in shooting, but they’re not in 4-H? Invite them to participate – registration is open to community members! Participants must be in at least 3rd grade to participate and be committed to attending both sessions. There are no scheduled sessions at this time.


Pistol Shooting Program

La Crosse County 4-H Shooting Sports Committee is offering a pistol training program to be conducted at the La Crosse Rifle Club over 2 evenings for a total of 6 hours. Participants must be enrolled in 4-H, be 12 years of age or older, have a Hunter’s Safety Certification, and attend both sessions. There are no scheduled sessions at this time.

This program costs $15.00 and will hold a maximum of 12 participants. Registration is awarded on a first come, first serve basis, and is due to the UW-Extension office with copy of Hunter’s Safety Certificate and fee.


Archery & Pellet Gun Program

The 4-H ArcGirls at archery practicehery & Pellet Gun program is typically held from January through March on alternating Saturday mornings.  The overall focus of the program is the development of youth as individuals AND as productive, responsible citizens. This program is taught by caring, certified adults in a positive, safe learning environment. Safety will be emphasized and all youth will participate in a safety session at the start of the first session. Classes are typically held at La Crosse Archery (1231 Oak Forest Dr, Onalaska).

2019 Archery and Pellet Gun Program

The program will run the following Saturdays: January 5, 19; February 2, 16; March 2, 16

Members must be in at least 3rd grade to sign up. Please note: you must be enrolled or re-enrolled in 4HOnline for the year in order to receive the 4-H member fee for this program!

 4-H Archery Invitational

The 2019 Invitational is set for April 5th-6th, 2019 (participants only shoot 1 of the 2 days) at La Crosse Archery (1231 Oak Forest Drive, Onalaska, WI 54650). La Crosse County participants can shoot for free, but must have participated in the 2018 Archery & Pellet Gun Program this January through March. Registration information forthcoming.
