La Crosse County 4-H Shooting Sports Program
Pistol Shooting Program
La Crosse County 4-H Shooting Sports Committee is offering a pistol training program to be conducted at the La Crosse Rifle Club over 2 evenings for a total of 6 hours. Participants must be enrolled in 4-H, be 12 years of age or older, have a Hunter’s Safety Certification, and attend both sessions. The sessions are scheduled for:
- Monday, March 12th 6:00-9:00 p.m.
- Thursday, March 15th 6:00-9:00 p.m.
This program costs $15.00 and will hold a maximum of 12 participants. Registration is awarded on a first come, first serve basis, and is due to the UW-Extension office with copy of Hunter’s Safety Certificate and fee by Wednesday, March 7th at 4:30 p.m. Come join us for some SAFE, EFFECTIVE, and FUN shooting!
4-H Trap Shooting Program
Two trap shooting programs are held each year (five sessions per program): one in the fall and one in the spring. In these sessions (led by certified, experienced adult volunteers), youth learn how to shoot trap in a safe and fun environment. Classes are typically held at the Gunslick Trap Club in Holmen, WI. Participants must be at least 12 years of age and have a Hunter’s Safety Certificate. Classes are held Monday evenings beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Archery & Pellet Gun Program
The 4-H Archery & Pellet Gun program is typically held from January through March on alternating Saturday mornings. The overall focus of the program is the development of youth as individuals AND as productive, responsible citizens. This program is taught by caring, certified adults in a positive, safe learning environment. Safety will be emphasized and all youth will participate in a safety session at the start of the first session. Classes are typically held at La Crosse Archery (1231 Oak Forest Dr, Onalaska).
2018 Archery and Pellet Gun Program
The program will run the following Saturdays: January 13, 27; February 10, 24; March 10, 24;
and the Invitational will be April 6-7, 2018 (registration for this forthcoming).
Members must be in at least 3rd grade to sign up. Please note: you must be enrolled or re-enrolled in 4HOnline for the year in order to receive the 4-H member fee for this program!
4-H Archery Invitational
The 2018 Invitational is set for April 6th-7th, 2018 (participants only shoot 1 of the 2 days) at La Crosse Archery (1231 Oak Forest Drive, Onalaska, WI 54650). La Crosse County participants can shoot for free, but must have participated in the 2018 Archery & Pellet Gun Program this January through March. Registration forms are due to the UW-Extension office by Thursday, March 29th at 4:30 p.m. No late entries will be accepted!
